Immokalee Child Care Children Get a Special Visit

Children at ICCC get a special visitPreschoolers at Immokalee Child Care received a special visit from K is for Kids recently when its Founder & Executive Director Karen Clawson came to visit them accompanied by her husband, K is for Kids Director and Lumension CEO, Pat Clawson. The couple personally delivered dozens of new books for the children’s main library and their classrooms from the Foundation.

Four classes of youngsters got to be the first to admire the shiny new books before they sat down “criss-cross-applesauce” to hear Pat read “Pirates Don’t Take Baths”, “If Big Bear Can, I Can” and “Little Red Hen”. The story reading was relaxing and easy for this experienced public speaker, however, it was the last story of the day — “Fox in Sox” by Dr. Seuss– that gave Mr. Clawson his biggest challenge, thanks to all the tongue twisting text!

Youngster also enjoyed sharing some of their own hopes and dreams when Karen asked them what they hoped to be when they grow up. Some of the popular aspirations of the children were to become firefighters, policemen, airline pilots, and teachers. Both boys and girls said they wanted to be football players, and also basketball players. A few of the girls dreamed of becoming princesses and ‘stars’ while a handful of boys said they wanted to grow up and become dads.

The Clawsons later remarked how wonderful it was to meet such bright young minds and what a wonderful job Immokalee Child Care Center was doing to educate its young students and prepare them for school.
