Teachers asked & we replied! Entry deadline has been extended to Fri., Apr. 17th for our Young Entrepreneur Scholarship Competition. Selected semifinalists have one month to complete their project.The competition is open to Collier County high school junior and senior students!

Young Entrepreneur Scholarship 2015 Guidelines and Application

Competition is open to Collier County high school juniors and seniors.  Students may PARTNER or enter as TEAMS!  Competitors, think of the skills you need for YOUR business or idea, write a brief proposal then apply and strengthen those skills and ideas your need for YOUR business to the business of helping others through K is for Kids’.

After all, businesses succeed when targeting a product or service that people need – helping others have  goods or services they lack or make their life better!

First place will win a scholarship of $1,000.00 to support their entrepreneurial passion. (Runner-up receives $500, third place, $250.)

Rules

  1. Eligibility: Students must be a junior or senior in any Collier County high school
  2. Students document their plan
  3. Show evidence of results
  4. Demonstrate impact of their skills on the foundation, i.e., may be beneficial to kids of any age!

NOTE: Students competing in this competition ARE upholding K is for Kids’ cornerstones of “Reading and dreaming, learning and leading, creating and achieving” just by DOING it.

K is for Kids is for the kids, by the kids, and with the kids!

WHO THE JUDGES ARE:

Our judges for the Young Entrepreneur Competition include Tiffany McQuaid of McQuaid & Co., a creative marketing guru widely recognized for her real estate savvy, and our own directors Pat Clawson and Vin Izzi. Representing our student leaders will be K is for Kids’ senior teen leader and student spokesperson Nedgie Paul(Judges page will be shared in the guidelines – check back soon!)

Nicholas Nolan, a senior at Barron Collier High School and K is for Kids Young Entrepreneur 2014, is congratulated by Craig Bouchard, New york Times bestselling author and international businessman at the third annual K is for Kids Teen Fashion Show.

2015 Contest Timeline:

  • Friday, April 15th: Contest entry deadline
  • Sunday, April 17, 2015: Semifinalists announced.The Foundation’s Board of Directors will evaluate proposals and projects and select ten entrants to proceed. Semifinalists will be notified by email and announced on K is for Kids’ website.  Competitors will have one month to complete their project. All semifinalists will have the opportunity to schedule a consultation with a K is for Kids representative via telephone or meeting.  Note: (Students are urged to apply entrepreneurial principles and utilize resources on hand, however, students may submit a proposal for consideration of reimbursement, if items need to be purchased in order to complete the project.)
  • Friday, MAY 15, 2015: Project completion deadline. Judges will select a young entrepreneur that has best applied their entrepreneurial skills and talents to K is for Kids Foundation’s grassroots cause: “Building readers and leaders” and its student leaders’ goal to “Climb higher. Help others.”
  • Sunday, May 29th, 2015 – WINNERS ANNOUNCED.
  • Sunday, May 31st, 2015 – Reception for Awards – Winners will be invited to a reception where scholarships will be awarded. (Location TBA, by invitation only.)
