BREAKING NEWS: Book Warehouse Donating 10,000 Books to K is for Kids’….KIDS!

BREAKING NEWS: Released January 22, 2012

Another local bookseller closed its doors for the last time tonight, but it won’t be leaving kids empty handed — instead the Book Warehouse will be opening new doors for local children as it donates over 10,000 books to K is for Kids.

Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Naples that promotes children’s literacy by donating books to children in need. The Foundation will be distributing the books to children throughout Collier and south Lee counties.

But along with the big catch comes another catch — moving a mountain of books is no easy feat for the teen-based volunteer organization. “Monday morning, we must pack up all the store’s remaining books and move them to a warehouse. We had three days to get the boxes, truck and warehouse needed. Thankfully, Cypress Self Storage in Naples has donated temporary warehouse space so our teens will have time to organize the books for distribution. Members of the Northside Kiwanis Club are pitching in to help and providing a truck large enough to haul the books, but more hands are needed. Our teen volunteers will be in school, of course, and afterwards, with so many sports and activities ongoing, we will be lucky to get a few who can help after high school. What we need is a small workforce — we’re reaching out as best we can, but any help WINK-TV viewers can give is greatly appreciated!”
