Immokalee Third Graders Enjoy Gift of Reading Thanks to Teens’ Fashion Show Fundraiser

Students at Village Oaks Elementary School in Immokalee received the gift of reading just in time for the holidays when an impassioned “elf” visited each third grade class with a trolley of books. The books were collected by Collier County teens during their recent Head to Toe Fashion Show, a fundraiser to help raise money and books for K is for Kids’ Rising Readers program.

Santa’s elf, a.k.a. Stephanie Griffin, VOES media specialist, made the rounds so that each student had the chance to choose a book to take home and keep.

Although it’s a guess who gets more pleasure from the gifts, those who receive or those that give, we just love seeing the photos of these youngsters lighting up with anticipation about what new adventure, friend, fact or fun might be discovered inside the covers of a book they haven’t yet opened.

Thank you, Stephanie, for sharing the excitement you stirred up on this special school day!
