Top sponsor GL Homes: Helping K is for Kids promote reading in neighborhood schools

GL Homes Vice President Tambra Wolfe, shown at left, presents Marina Moussa, K is for Kids’ student ambassador and FGCU intern, with a donation of $1,000. The monies will be directed towards the Foundation’s Rising Readers program, helping students in need attending the developer’s Riverstone neighborhood schools.

In 2004, GL Homes was the first business partner to sponsor the annual Bring a Book, Bring a Friend Fun’raiser. Launched by K is for Kids founder Karen D. Clawson and her children with the support of other parents and school staff, the Fun’raiser and Friends of the School Library program helped boost the inventory of books so that the school’s enthusiastic readers would have more books to read. Today, the Bring a Book, Bring a Friend Fun’raiser is celebrated as a full literacy month each February and benefits children of all ages across Collier and south Lee Counties.
