Arthrex to Underwrite 2011 K is for Kids’ “Kids Celebrate Reading” Book Fair

K is for Kids®, a Naples-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote literacy and a love of reading in children by enriching their libraries and expanding their access to books in and out of school, is pleased to announce that Arthrex has joined its efforts with a $1,000 pledge to underwrite the 2011 K is for Kids’ “Kids Celebrate Reading” Book Fair.

The third annual book fair, to be held Saturday, Feb. 12 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, Waterside Shops, brings together young readers with a host of kid-centered activities such as storytelling, scavenger hunts, a ‘meet the author’ discussion and face painting. Students will also have the opportunity to put their literary skills to work by participating in K is for Kids’ Young Authors book.

“We’re so pleased to have the support of Arthrex, which is well-known for its community involvement,” stated Karen Clawson, founder and executive director of K is for Kids. “Their generous donation will go a long way in making this year’s book fair a success, and in helping us ensure that kids everywhere have access to books”

“Arthrex is proud to underwrite the 2011 K is for Kids’ “Kids Celebrate Reading” book fair,” said Arthrex Founder and CEO Reinhold Schmieding. “The organization’s goal is directly in line with our charitable giving mission to benefit the community that our families live and work in. Fostering literacy is one of the most worthwhile investments for our children’s future.”

This year’s “Kids Celebrate Reading” Book Fair is the highlight of K is for Kids’ month-long effort to raise awareness of the need for children to have more books to read. Drop-off locations will be located throughout Collier County so that residents and visitors can donate new or gently used hardcover books, which K is for Kids will distribute to public school libraries, day care centers and after-school programs for at-risk students. Monetary donations are also welcomed.
