Barnes & Noble Booksellers Launches 6th Annual Holiday Book Drive for Children in Need

The next time you’re shopping in Barnes & Noble at the Waterside Shops, Naples, please consider donating a book for a child in need during their 6th Annual Holiday Book Drive for K is for Kids.

The Foundation will be distributing the books to children of all ages across Collier County.  This year’s goal is to collect 4,000 books, passing last year’s record of 3,000.

Customers may select a book to donate that they loved reading as a child or in their youth. They may also tell the cashier at check-out the they wish to donate a book or more. Inscriptions are encouraged, too, as children love discovering a message to them – learning that someone cares about them and has personally selected a “special” book.

Barnes & Noble’s 6th Annual Book Drive is poised to break last year’s record donation of 3,000 books. “The customers are so generous,” said Jessica Olson, Community Relations Manager, at the booksellers (shown with face painting from a children’s event above). “We are thrilled to see how many beautiful new books we can place in the hands of children who need them most.”

The people making it happen behind the scenes, or rather, the behind the checkout counter:

This season, as in the past, cashiers Janet and Felicia will be fueling the Holiday Book Drive with spirit and dedication, while also ensuring the checkout lines flow smoothly and that customers leave with a smile on their face.

Jessica Olson, Community Relations Manager (shown above), said of the bookseller’s staff, “We’re thrilled to see how many beautiful new books we can place in the hands of children who need them most  – books we realize their families often cannot afford to buy.”
