Teens Have Fun Making Video of Children’s Storyboards for Filmstrip on Canvas

Shown left to right: Radhu, Sydney, Justine and Jarrod had fun shooting videos of the story local children had created at the recent Naples International Film Festival and Downtown Naples Association’s CityFest Films & Flavors on 5th. The teens had been invited by the Naples International Film Festival and Downtown Naples Association to organize an interactive event for children and the idea for a sidewalk filmstrip was proposed. After researching the idea, it was decided a giant 9x4ft. canvas would be constructed and placed onto two supporting easels.

The day before Halloween, twenty-six teens gathered to help local children create storyboards about pumpking for the giant filmstrip on canvas. After all the storyboards had been posted, four teens later assembled with the challenge of “reading” the stories posted by the youngsters.

Two stories were created, one about a pumpkin named Jack who wanted to enter a costumer contest but had stage fright, another about a princess who was kidnapped by a witch. In line with our mission of promoting children’s literacy and to encourage kids to pick up a book and read more, the teens wanted to show children that all movies often begin as books, and all start with a great story! To make it simpler for children to create the filmstrip
