Golden Terrace is located in Golden Gate just outside of beautiful Naples, Florida. Golden Terrace Elementary school has over 900 students attending this year. The school is split into two separate campuses separated by a couple of blocks, therefore we have two media centers and two media specialists. The primary school houses the Pre-K through 2nd Grade, and the intermediate center houses the 3rd – 5th Grade. The school has 90% of the students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. During the day, the students are learning English and studying in English at school but many return home to families who do not speak English. Many parents are holding two jobs to make ends meet and keep a place for their families to live leaving the education of their children to the school. There is not a lot of print material in English at home, therefore the school’s library is the student’s primary source for quality books. We have a need for beginning reader level books and non-fiction books to help our students move into reading with the skills they need to be successful. As our population grows each year so does the need for new books to help these students become better readers.
